The Study Program of Doctoral Engineering Science (PSDIT) held its 79th doctoral promotion on Friday, 23 August 2024, at the Wismakarma Hall, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, on Jl. P.B. Sudirman Denpasar. Promovendus Ir. H. Empung, MT with the dissertation titled Multifunction Reservoir On Daily Scale In Multi Reservoir System received a very satisfactory predicate.

Dr. Ir. H. Empung, MT describes that the study aims to optimize daily water allocation for energy production, agricultural irrigation, public water supply and industry. The methodology used in this study is linear programming and simulation with HEC-ResSim. The optimization is performed for existing conditions plus two additional scenarios for multifunctional operation of the reservoirs: Scenario I increased water demand for public water supply in Saguling and Cirata reservoirs and Scenario II increased water demand for public water supply with focus on Cirata reservoir. Inflow data spanning 16 years (2000-2015) are categorized into three groups: wet, normal and dry years. Water demand data for public water supply is based on estimated needs of districts and cities around the reservoirs, while irrigation water demand in Jatiluhur is supplied from Perum Jasa Tirta II. It is advisable to focus water resource utilization for domestic needs on Jatiluhur Reservoir to minimize impacts on electricity generation. If additional demand for domestic water supply is unavoidable, Scenario I is preferable, as it results in a smaller reduction in electricity generation compared to Scenario II.
