70th Doctoral Promotion

The Study Program of Doctoral Engineering Science (PSDIT) held its 70th doctoral promotion on Monday, 10 June 2024, at the Wismakarma Hall, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, on Jl. P.B. Sudirman Denpasar. Promovenda Ni Wayan Sumartini Saraswati, ST., MT with the dissertation titled Big Data Analytics for Bali Tourism using Hybrid Lexicon Active Learning SVM and RFQ Methods received a very satisfactory predicate.

Dr. Ni Wayan Sumartini Saraswati, ST., MT explains that the tourism sector has the opportunity to become Indonesia's most important foreign exchange earner. Bali is one of the destinations with the largest market share in Indonesia and has great potential to develop Indonesia's tourism industry. Advances in technology allow companies to access more data, process it, and convert it into valuable information for the tourism industry. The most important aspect of customer experience is customer satisfaction. The tourism industry is an industry based on customer satisfaction. The objective of this study is to develop a conceptual model of big data analytics for tourism in Bali based on big data reviews left on the TripAdvisor website about tourist attractions, hotels, and restaurants in Bali. As a novelty of this study, the hybrid lexicon active learning SVM (Support Vector Machine) method was developed that aims to automate the sentiment analysis process of big data. In addition, as one of the novelties of this study, RFQ (Radio-Frequency Quadrupole) features created from the results of polarized reviews were developed and a clustering and ranking model was developed. This study provides the results of big data analytics that can be used as recommendations for tourism development in Bali.
