69th Doctoral Promotion

The Study Program of Doctoral Engineering Science (PSDIT) held its 69th doctoral promotion on Monday, 3 June 2024, at the Wismakarma Hall, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, on Jl. P.B. Sudirman Denpasar. Promovenda Ir. Ni Kadek Ayu Wirdiani, ST., MT., IPU. with the dissertation titled Mobile Cloud Multimodal Biometrics of Palmprint, Face and Voice Based on Deep Learning Methods received a very satisfactory predicate.

Dr. Ir. Ni Kadek Ayu Wirdiani, ST., MT., IPU explains that current biometric developments mainly use unimodal systems, that is, with only one characteristic of the biometric object. This unimodal system has several weaknesses, such as intra-and inter-class variability and low precision. Multimodal biometrics, i.e. a biometric system that combines two or more biometric characteristics however, can address the weaknesses of single-modal biometrics. This study combines three biometric features: palm, face, and voice. These objects were chosen because they are easier to capture on mobile devices than fingerprints, iris, and retinas. The process undertaken in this study included a registration process and a referral process. A mobile recording is done using gesture recognition. The study includes three fusion scenarios: common feature vectors, point-level fusion, and decision-level fusion. Based on the experimental results, it was found that feature-level multimodal biometric fusion provides the most accurate results compared to other fusion scenarios.
