51st Doctoral Promotion

The Doctoral Study Program of Engineering Science (PSDIT) held its 51^st doctoral promotion session on Tuesday, 21^st February 2023 at the Wiswakarma Hall, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. Promovendus Dr. Ir. Eka Wahyu Hidayat, ST., MT., MCE with a dissertation entitled Generative Batik Pattern Design using Fractal Parametric L-System completed his studies within 5 years and received a very satisfactory predicate.

In his presentation, Dr. Ir. Eka Wahyu Hidayat, ST., MT., MCE described that the Batik Generative Algorithm (BGA) consists of five (5) stages starting with preparing the layout, preparing the library, determining the number of iterations, determining the grammar which consists of axioms, rules, angles, and generating batik patterns. The trials were carried out by simulating and visualizing the making of simple vine motifs and modeling batik patterns with the Parametric L-System. The test results show that the BGA algorithm is capable of generating generative batik patterns using a dataset of batik seeds as a parameter. The use of this algorithm in the batik process can speed up the batik pattern design process.
