45th Doctoral Promotion
The 45th doctoral promotion session was held on Monday, November 7, 2022 in Wiswakarma Hall, Udayana University, by the Doctoral Study Program in Engineering Sciences (PSDIT), Faculty of Engineering. The dissertation's title is Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control For Hybrid Active Power Filters on Industrial Networks. Promovendus Asep Andang received a very satisfactory predicate.
In his presentation, Dr. Ir. Asep Andang, ST., MT stressed that the presence of harmonics in the power grid results in various conditions that reduce the quality of electrical power. Various consequences of the presence of harmonics include non-optimal engine operating conditions and a protection system that does not operate properly, greatly disrupting system performance. Therefore, it is necessary to handle how to reduce or even eliminate harmonics in the network.
The results showed that the control system Finite Control Set-Model Predictive Control, can be applied to various Hybrid Active Power Filters for one phase, three-phase three-wire and three-phase four-wire. Three-phase four-wire Hybrid Active Power Filter using Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control is able to reduce harmonic currents under varying nonlinear load conditions so that the average current THD is below 5%, under unbalanced load conditions. In addition to lowering the harmonics in the load, it is able to balance the load so that it reduces the neutral current and the %Iunb balance value becomes less than 1%. Under dynamic conditions, the control transient process has a time span of one period of fundamental frequency to reach steady state conditions. The load balance condition can also be maintained, which is less than 1% after the installation of the Hybrid Active Power Filter
